Following months of procedural delays, Adeniyi Adeyemi—the man accused of creating and running a fake federal agency named the *Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC)*—finally appeared at the Federal High Court in Abuja on Wednesday for his official arraignment.

Handcuffed and escorted by officers from the Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre (NPF-NCCC), Adeyemi entered the courtroom dressed in a flowing white outfit and a white baseball cap, keeping his head lowered as proceedings commenced.

#### **Behind the Months of Court Delays**

Adeyemi’s formal arraignment had been stalled repeatedly since the case was first filed in November 2025. Previous scheduled dates—including a key February hearing—fell through due to defense counsel adjournment requests, the defendant’s absence, and conflicting official engagements on the judge's calendar.

The investigation was originally triggered in October 2025 following a petition submitted by the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila.

#### **8-Count Charge: Forgery, Fraud, and Impersonation**

The police have charged Adeyemi alongside two accomplices—identified as Femi and Anu, who remain at large—on an eight-count charge bordering on conspiracy, forgery, and impersonation.

* **Forged Presidential Credentials:** Prosecutors allege that Adeyemi and his co-conspirators forged official State House letterheads, a fake presidential appointment letter, and official approvals for the take-off of the non-existent PFIPC.

* **Fake Office Setup:** The syndicate allegedly drafted official letters seeking government office space, staff bank account approvals, and inter-ministerial partnerships.

* **Impersonating a Director-General:** Count five specifically accuses Adeyemi of falsely presenting himself as the Director-General of the PFIPC—an offence punishable under Section 179 of the Penal Code.

Despite the heavy charges brought by the NPF-NCCC, Adeyemi has denied all allegations, maintaining his innocence as the trial gets underway.
