There’s a fresh setback for criminal elements in Adamawa State as Chief Magistrate Court 2 in Yola sentenced two notorious members of the infamous "Shila Boys" gang to five years in prison each—with no option of fine.

The convicts, Aminu Adamu (popularly known as *Gawa*) and Umar Muktar (aka *Dan Basi*), both residents of the Shinko area in Yola North LGA, were sentenced after pleading guilty to charges brought against them by the police.

**The Attack**

According to the prosecution led by Inspector Adamu Umar, the duo, along with accomplices who remain at large, carried out a violent attack on Mohamed Ali along Mohamed Mustafa Way in Jimeta-Yola.

Armed with dangerous weapons, the gang inflicted severe injuries on the victim before robbing him of a mobile phone valued at ₦235,000.

**Court Proceedings**

When the First Information Report (FIR) was read and translated in court, both Adamu and Muktar entered a plea of guilty. To support the case, the prosecution brought forward the Investigative Police Officer (IPO), Insp. Bawa Mohamed Abubakar, who corroborated the confession.

Following the evidence, Chief Magistrate M. A. Adamu handed down the five-year jail terms without fine options to serve as a deterrent to others.

**Police Reaction**

Speaking on the verdict, Adamawa State Police Command Spokesperson, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, highlighted the command’s determination to rid the state of violent street crime.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Kabir Umar Hassan, commended the judiciary for the decisive judgment, reassuring residents that the command remains fully committed to hunting down and prosecuting all remaining members of the Shila gang.
