Officers of the Edo State Police Command have arrested a 57-year-old man, Kadiri Edenokun, for allegedly defiling his six-year-old stepdaughter in the Jattu area of Auchi, Edo State.

 

The Command's spokesperson, ASP Eno Ikoedem, confirmed the arrest in a statement released on Wednesday, September 16, 2026. According to the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), the suspect confessed during interrogation to committing the crime multiple times.

 

The victim is currently receiving medical treatment and care under the supervision of the Edo State Ministry of Women Affairs.

 

ASP Ikoedem noted that the suspect remains in custody and will be charged in court once the investigation is concluded.

 

Reacting to the incident, the Commissioner of Police, Edo State Command, CP Patrick Daaor, issued a strong warning against sexual violence, especially offences involving minors. He stressed that the command has zero tolerance for such acts and urged parents and the general public to stay vigilant, assuring that anyone involved in similar crimes will face the full wrath of the law.
