A 31-year-old National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member posted to a private school off Jakpa Road in Uvwie Local Government Area, Delta State, has been remanded in custody following allegations of sexually abusing a 6-year-old pupil.

According to reports, the incidents allegedly occurred on three separate occasions when the young girl was waiting for her mother to pick her up after school hours. In a video circulating online, the child narrated how the suspect lured her into his apartment located within the school premises after her classmates and teacher had left.

The child detailed how the corps member physically dragged her to his room, committed the act, and threatened to beat her if she reported the incident to her mother. She further revealed that the suspect used a white handkerchief to clean blood off her following the assault. A subsequent medical examination confirmed that the child's hymen was ruptured.

A local activist who picked up the case confirmed that the suspect has been arraigned before High Court 1, Effurun. The court ordered his remand at the Warri Custodial Centre (Okere Prison). The case has been adjourned until September 18, 2026, pending legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
